In September 2015, Lifetime premiered Mark’s feature directorial debut, Murder In Mexico: The Bruce Beresford-Redman Story, starring Colin Egglesfield, Leonor Varela and Brianne Davis. He recently directed a pilot for Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s New Form Digital called Intricate Vengeance, which is currently being pitched as a digital series. Mark’s also directed several award-winning shorts, branded digital series and commercials for GMC, Nissan and ESPN.
Mark is probably best known for co-creating, producing and starring in the award-winning The Bannen Way for Sony Pictures Television. Financed by Sony’s Crackle distribution arm, this unique web series/feature film had a compelling cast which included Michael Ironside, Academy Award nominees Robert Forster and Michael Lerner, and Emmy winner Vanessa Marcil. Within the first 10 weeks of release, The Bannen Way garnered over 14 million views and went on to win 4 Streamy Awards including Best Actor (Mark), Best Drama, Best Director and Best Editor; as well as being nominated for two Webby Awards and a BANFF Award. The film is currently distributed internationally on VOD, DVD, iTunes and Amazon as a feature film.
As a producer, he’s produced three micro-budget feature films in association with Blanc-Biehn Productions that all have been picked up by Anchor Bay and Starz for distribution in 2015 and the fall of 2016. He is currently in development on a feature film, A PLACE APART with eOne Entertainment and and Lifetime, which he will direct and produce.
Mark spent over 20 years in the business on over 100 film, TV and commercial sets, starting as a production assistant and working his way up to prop master, art director, producer, writer and director. He was fortunate to have worked with the some of the top directors and cinematographers in the business: Steven Soderbergh, David O. Russell, Ed Zwick, Sam Raimi, Ulu Grosbard, Brad Silberling, Tony Bill, Gregory Nava, McG, James Foley, Robert Rodriguez, Bill Condon, Roger Deakins, Stephen Goldblatt, John Bailey and John Seale.
Mark’s a very visual person, over the years he’s created in many mediums; painting, photography, graphic design, key art design to art directing. As a director, he loves melding his visual style with his training and experience as an actor to tell complex stories that touch, move and inspire.
He studied under the legendary acting/directing teacher Milton Katselas at the Beverly Hills Playhouse and assisted him on over two dozen scenes and plays that Milton directed. It was an incredible experience to learn how to work with actors and the art of storytelling. Mark began teaching acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse in 2013.
